Board

Twelve Board members (selected by the Appointments Panel) are responsible for our strategic oversight. The majority have no connections with the newspaper and magazine industry. Others have recent senior experience and offer expertise in the area of press standards.

Complaints Committee

Twelve Committee members rule on complaints and decide on what a newspaper or magazine should do if the Editors' Code has been breached. The majority are independent and have no connections with the newspaper and magazine industry. Others have recent senior experience in the newspaper or magazine industries but are not currently serving editors.

Staff

Twenty-one staff handle complaints and arbitration, monitor press standards, provide administrative support and deliver our communications and engagement work.

Appointments panel

The panel appoint or reappoint our Chairman, Board members and the independent members of the Editors’ Code of Practice Committee.

Independent reviewer

The reviewer undertakes reviews of handling of investigated complaints to ensure the process has been fair and transparent.

Our journalist and reader advisory panels feed in to our press standards work.
